CONAD CITY ~ Piazza del Carmine, 2
This is our “go to” store; it is the most convenient place (10 minute walk) to get everything you need; it also has a surprisingly good deli, cheese, wine, and antipasti selection
DA SERGIO (GASTRONOMIA da SERGIO) ~ just down the street from the apartment at via Michele Rosi 24
For meats, cheeses, focaccia, prepared foods, wines, etc. This is the perfect store to gather some picnic supplies … find a nice green space on top of the walls … spread out a blanket/table cloth and enjoy some nice alfresco dining 🍷
BIOROOM GUSTOFRESCO ~ Piazza Santa Maria, 25
This is a great place for fresh juices, smoothies, fruit bowls, salads, and amazing sandwiches … they have a hummus sandwich to die for 🤤
ESSELUNGA ~ via Carlo del Prete, 565
This is the largest market within walking distance (a 14 minute walk outside the walls). It’s a mega store, with anything you could possibly need.
GINO FRUTTA AND BISTROT ~ in Piazza Santa Maria, 18
This tiny little shop packs in much goodness! The freshest vegetables and herbs, plus a reasonably priced selection of wines. And, upstairs is one of our favorite restaurants for a traditional lunch.
VINERIA DOLCE VITA (Ricardo, the wine guy) ~ via Santa Croce, 87
One of the best wine & olive oil shops in Lucca. Ricardo is extremely helpful and very nice.
VINI e LIQUORI di UGO MASSEI ~ via Sant’Andrea, 19
Another excellent wine shop! He also carries some hard alcohol. Close to Torre Guinigi.
GELATERIA VENETA LUCCA ~ via Fillungo, 136 (near Piazza Anfiteatro)
Very good gelato in a very convenience location! They have our favorite conini (pictured above)
GELATERIA LA CREMA MATTA ~ via Fillungo, 178
Delicious gelato and conveniently located on a walk back to the apartment
MOMO GELATI ~ via della Fratta, 11
My favorite gelato and homemade chocolate! They also have a delicious ice cream bar covered in decedent dark chocolate 😋
PHARMACIES
➡️
You can tell from afar that they are open,
when this green light is on
FARMACIA GIANNINI, Piazza San Frediano, 1 (corner of via Fillungo & Piazza San Frediano)
Anytime you have a non-emergency medical issue, go to the pharmacy. They will be able to help with most anything. Quite a few U.S. prescription medications can be purchased over the counter in Italy. If not, they can fill a prescription for you for far less money than in the U.S.
There are many other pharmacies around town. They are all good and they are always happy to help!
Lucca is a wonderful town for shopping.
If you take a walk down via Fillungo, you will find many great shops.
But, take detours down some of the side streets and you will find art shops, clothing stores, leather stores, wine shops … and, many many others.
Explore! You may just find something wonderfully unique that you just can’t live without.
